It is amazing that here we sit on the Greatest Communication System ever created in the history of the human species and yet some folks do not realize how wonderful a gift it is and thus ruin it for everyone. We really need to get rid of those who move to destroy the system; The Spammers, Sploggers, hackers, etc.
If we do not fix these issues now, then someday in the future when Computer-Brain Interfaces and networked interactive brain-computer social networks are available, then someone might very well hack into the human brain via such a device. Perhaps that might sound extreme or the Futurist in me talking but nevertheless that is how serious this is.
We need to find a better way to get the bad guys and not punish the users or victims of crimes. As far as I am concerned Sploggers and splogging is a crime just like defacing property with graffiti and yet we reward these folks monetarily for their dastardly endeavors. They know that they can make money by hurting others in this way and also they know that they can gain notoriety for their endeavors.
A system, which rewards scoundrels and malcontents to this degree will produce the most number of scoundrels and malcontents until which time the only people who wish to use it are the same. We must stop this abuse on the Internet as it detracts from human society and communication in our civilizations and the longer we wait to take care of this problem the more we all stand to lose. Perhaps this article may indeed propel thought and might in fact be a topic of interest in 2007.
